Prior to tonight's class, I had no idea what the SMART Board was capable of. I probably still only know a fraction of its features. I was impressed with its pragmatism, both in ease of use and in practicality of application.
I am excited to discover new ways to integrate it in the classroom. Personally, I see it being used in Language Arts (my endorsement area) to make reading material much more interactive. As students get into the junior high grades, many lose interest in reading; this might be because reading does not engage all learning styles. The SMART Board, however, could illustrate the characters or themes of a book in a tactile manner. It could even help teach writing skills by making an interactive game out of piecing together a proper sentence (or something of that sort.)
